Learning English at university

Hello, today I'm going to talk about learning to talk in this language at university, and its uses in my life.

I think that the obligation of the university about coming to learn English is very boring and a mere formality. Really, because it’s an obligation it’s boring... but I have to say that anyway I have entertained with some exercises, the teacher and my classmates. I believe that doing blogs is some of the best exercises to learn English… but in my opinion it would be more pedagogical to be talking in English a lot all the time. When someone learns specific things you tend to forgive it very soon… it’s in the constant practice when you really learn. That’s because I really believe that going to a country where the English is the principal language, is the best way to learn English.

Anyway, that’s in my case… and I think that I learned the most important things of talking in English in primary school, and then I just learn complements of this. Maybe there are persons that didn’t learn a lot about this language before, so I believe that for them it’s a more educative experience

I have to improve my pronunciation and learn more words and some things of the grammar or syntax… but in my opinion, going to English classes won’t help me a lot. I hope to go someday to an English-speaking country and then learn this language to the level of speaking without problems. Anyway, if I can’t do it by now, I could listen to English-speaking TV series or read this language in papers or something.

In these days I practically don’t use English to speak. I just use it to understand the songs of bands that are wrote in English, but, for example, I never met some foreigner to speak with him or her.

That’s all I have to say by now… bye!

How green am I?

I think that being conscious of the environment is something really important, and is definitely something that I wanna practice more. I think that if you do this, you're more consciuous about yourself, because we can't think us outside the environment, the environment make us but we also make the environment, that's the important thing

In Chile I think that doesn't exist an environmental culture, you just have to go to a mall to realize it, or even walk on the streets. Chile is a neoliberal country, and with the consumerism as a base, it's very distant of being a country that cares about the environment.

Anyway, in the multiform culture that we live, there are some iniciatives that cares about the environment. You sometimes can watch them on the tv, or listen it by an eco-organization, or a famous person who promote it. But most of people don't see it.

Personally, I try to consume the least as possible, that is, I try to use the much as possible my clothes or the things I have, and when I bought clothes, for example, I try to do it in second-hand stores. I walk a lot, use my byccicle sometimes and the public transport and with my family we try to recycle the glass and the tetra pack cartons of milk, for example. Other thing is being vegetarian. I think that it's a little more ecological practice than eat meat, because to feed the animals the business of meat use a lot vegetal kilograms to "make" a kilogram of meat, so it has a big impact... anyway I'm not very shure about this because some vegetals could damage very much the soil, like soja.

I have never joined an eco-organization. I think that you have to dedicate it you time and effort and today I want to spend my time in another activities. But always being ecologic yourself is a good iniciative.

In our country or our city, I think that it would be good to have more ecological trash cans and a culture and activites that promote an ecological life... all too change the mentality of the citizen. But much more than that, we would have to change all of our habits and our economy to change our way of life in order to become a real ecologycal country. Consumerism is the thing that is killing our planet and environment.

My 2014 year

Hello, today I'm going to talk about how is going on this year for me. It has been a difficult year, with its good and bad things.

One of the best things has been that I have travelled a lot. In summer, I first went to Guanaqueros with a lot of friends, because one of them has a house on that beach. We then went to Valle del Elqui, where a friend's father has a camping zone, and he left us stay there almost for free!, it was really goos... they are very nice places, and I didn't spend a lot of money because I travelled by hitch-hike with some friends.

After this, I was left with no more money, and I think that my vacations were ended. But the same friends that went with me to the north, invited (yes, invited) me to the south. We went with de same technique: hitck-hike, and all was good. I travelled to Temuco, Villarrica, Puerto Fuy, Coñaripe, Puerto Pirigüeico, and I knew the best lakes of Chile, and the amazing beauty of the south.

But, out of that, it has been a hard year, because I had some emotional scars of the past year: I broke with a girlfriend and some things in which I put a lot of effort didn't go very well, so I drag this sars to the first half of this year, and it was hard to me to stand up again. In addition, I have to fulfill with the academic requirements, and this years has going a little hard on that way.

Anyway, I achieve getting better and go on very well with the university. But I have didn't some things that I want, like studying somethings that are interesting for me, like phylosophy, physics and others.

Bye bye!

The job I would like to have

Hello there! Today I’m going to talk about the job I would like to have.

Choose a job is a very difficult decision. I’m studying psychology, so the posible work field, if you follow the regular way, limitates to some kinds of jobs in wich you have to response to institutional demands about searching how the people are, principally.

Although I like the psychology knowledge, I’m not very agree about this kinds of Jobs, because I think they response to some logics of the system in which we live that are very inhumane… you know, categorize the people that you don’t even know by a limitated interview or questionary, for example, is a very impersonal exercise, and it has important consequences, that make the psychologyst an authority in some way and that gives him some kind of power over the persons.

Is because of this reasons that I would choose to be more a psychology or a philosophy teacher, in the secondary or in the university, because by this way I think that you get a closer relationship with people, and you can give them some things that are not necessarily a knowledge, but a learning about the life and a support.

If I were a university teacher (that is a Little more difficult jaja), I could also make investigations or create knowledge that bring anothers views about the human.

I don’t think the format of this job is like an office… but I would have to have a desk to do the boring part of my job, like check the test sor something.

I think it’s an outdoor job, but it’s a Little limitated in this way, because you don’t travell to much, I think… and I would like to travel a lot to know different parts of the world, but I think I could reconcile this differents desires. I think I would have to take a pedagogy minor too.

Well, thats all I can say. Hope you’re good, bye!

My best concert ever

Hello again! Today I'm going to talk about the best concert I've ever had: Roger Waters's The Wall. It was the march 3, 2012 in Estadio Nacional... very near here!

As you all may know, Roger Waters was one of the members of the recognized band Pink Floyd, and The Wall is maybe one of the most famous albums that they have made.

It was very crazy, because I didn't planned went to it... in fact, I didn't have much money, and that concert was very expensive, so because of that, when I know that he was going to give a concert in Chile, I knew that I couldn't go.

But the history is that the same day of the concert, in the morning, I was reading the news on my school and a friend noticed it. Then he said that his father was working on the setting-up of the stage, and that he could make me enter for free. I ask him if I could go with my girlfriend, who also likes Pink Floyd, and he has no problem... he just pick the phone, call his father and all was ready! The only thing was that I had to go early... like 2 pm (when the concert were going to start at 9 pm or something like that)

So when I get off the school  I quickly went to meet my girlfriend and then we went near Estadio Nacional. We had to enter by an hidden accession... so about 3 pm we were in. We could see the practice of the concert and the setting-up of the stage before it begins! It was amazing!

The only bad thing was that I was with my uncomfortable school clothes and that I didn't have any money to buy something to eat, so at about 8
pm we were very hungry with my girlfriend... and the food was so expensive!

I was very tired because of that... but I enjoyed it a lot anyway... the music, the lights, the explosions and the special effects were all very amazing. And I saw Rogers Waters Live with a really good view!
Now I think that that it was my lucky day ... I wish it could happen again!

Tool, a unique band.

Hello! Today i'm going to talk about my favorite band: Tool. I think it's one of the most interesting bands of the world. This band is recognized because of its deep and great music, and also because of its incredible art works.

It's from USA, specially from Los Ángeles, California, and they started made up by Maynard James Keenan on vocals, Adam Jones on guitar, Danny Carey on drums and Paul D'Amour on bass; but in 1995 this last member left the band and in his place they put an Englishman bassist called Justin Chancellor.

Their music style is hard to explain. It's a class of progressive metal that is very dark, but in his own way. It doesn't appear like any other band sound, and for me, the important of their music, is the sense and feelings that they put on them letters whit witch I feel very identified.

I don't really remember when was the time that I listened it for the first time... but I remember that my sister has an album of them, and some they I listened it... but I begin to like it a lot when I listened to them with a friend.

They have five studio albums: Opiate (1992), Undertow(1993), Ænima(1996), Lateralus(2001) and 10,000 days(2006) and I'm waiting anxiously for the sixth.

In the two firsts albums, their music was full of hate and negative feelings, but they represent very good this feelings and I thing it's great.

In the others albums they begin to be more deeper, and they talk about things like communication, mysticism and the bad things of our actual society.

Now you know who they are. Because all the things I have said, I really recommend it to all people. They're very good, and they will introduce you to a very interesting world!

The place I'd like to visit

I have never been abroad, but I have always dreamed to travel to a new continent. Specially, I imagine myself going to Europe, because there are so many countries that are interesting, also because of the historical places, and I think it has to be a quite different culture. Speaking of culture, I believe that I really want to know a whole different culture, something that escapes from western influence or almost in some way… because you know this culture is globalized.

For that reason, the place I’d like to visit is located in Asia, and it’s actually India. The truth is that I don’t know very much about it and our teacher has helped me a little in that way, but it interests me principally because of its typical music and for its religious festivals, or its religion as such. I think they are quite interesting and exciting. I know something of its music because I usually listen a lot of Ravi Shankar compositions, who is a known Indian musician that get famous on the sixties. He used to play the sitar and his compositions are called “ragas”. His music makes me calm and relax a lot.

Also there is an interesting religious festival called Holi. Did you know that the traders have taken it to Chile as a commercial festival? It actually will be really soon, I don’t know exactly when. Well… I think I’d like to know the real festival.

Oh, and I forgot to say that I would really like to know the Himalayas !!

Other thing I’d like to do would be eat its typical food. I’m vegetarian, so I’m a little limited in that way. But I have known that there are many vegetarians there, so I think I’m not so limited.

I think I wouldn’t like to work, study or live right there because I don’t speak the same language, and I think it’s a big difficulty to do anything. Also I don’t know which job I could get there. Maybe I’m a little afraid of these things because of my ignorance, but if I like the place, I would think it twice.
